Report from the Wild

Hello Reader,

As I write this, I am packing for a vacation. As you're reading it, I am driving back from said vacation. If I don't survive the vacation, this is my ghost speaking.

Shortly, I will be teaching at the University of Winnipeg, doing some creative writing, horror, literature, and screenwriting classes. If you're signed up for my classes, see you soon!

My main focus this year is not teaching, however, but ramping up the publishing program of Stranger Fiction. Recently, Deadline reported on a distribution deal that Gungnir Books signed. One thing that isn't mentioned in the article is that Stranger Fiction will also be partnering with Gungnir Books to help get all our great stuff in bookstores and comic stores globally.

Deadline mentioned the book LAST BREEDS that I co-wrote with CEO Matthew Medney (formerly the CEO of Heavy Metal) and GMB Chomichuk (the creative team on that book also includes Scott B. Henderson, Zach Schuster, and Lyndon Radchenka).

LAST BREEDS will be hitting stores in 2026, but you can get it from me now.

This is my first full-length graphic novel (due to the publishing weirdness that surrounded The Eye Collector, which I'll tell you more about later). And it's a hardcover. And it's blurbed by Scott Snyder! I've never felt more pro.

If you don't know who Scott Snyder is, and why this is a big deal for me... when I was a kid, Scott co-wrote a comic series with Stephen King called AMERICAN VAMPIRE. He did one of the truly great BATMAN runs where he introduced the "Court of Owls" conspiracy. He recently reinvented BATMAN a second time! He is the man and very kind to have such high praise for the book.

LAST BREEDS might be some of the best work of my career thus far, so get it now before the world finds out!

I will be back to writing work soon and completing the next SHARED WORLD book, which is called DRAXAS. You can preorder DRAXAS here to show your support and excitement! Get it together with LAST BREEDS and save $15.

I will have more news about our movie THE PRINCESS AND THE DRAGON soon, hopefully, now that a distributor has signed on. In the meantime, you can phone up and leave a nightmare at the beep. Call 1-888-53-STORY now!

Probably (?) when you get this email, our new Stranger Fiction website is up? Probably? If not, it will be soon, so bookmark it now.

A lot of news coming to the world and that site and to you. Excited to touch base more in September and to keep a more regular cadence with you all... and to start mailing stuff out!

Stay strange,

Jonathan
